Tune Local AM/FM Radio

You can listen to local live AM/FM radio on your computer after you install optional hardware. Once the hardware is installed you can scan the dial locally like a normal radio, or use the RadioGuide to find and tune local Stations.

You’ll need either a Windows Media Center TV/FM tuner or radioSHARK AM/FM hardware.

Local radio is more reliable and usually has better sound quality than internet radio. Also many radio programs are not available over the internet.

Features include:

  • All RedButton listening and recording features for AM and FM stations on your PC.
  • Retrieves frequency, name, local, and format from RadioGuideā„¢
  • Compatible with Windows ME/2000/XP/Vista/Media Center Edition
  • Software drivers are included with the RedButton software

Hardware is supported with the Windows Media Center interface or RedButton download.

Tuning AM/FM stations

This section helps you set up your hardware for use in recording or listening with local AM or FM tuner hardware on your computer.

  1. Tuning a local station from the guide will automatically use hardware installed.
  1. To manually adjust frequency: Slide the green marker side-to-side or click the green arrows to each side to scan or incrementally adjust the tuning frequency. If you are connected to the internet, the RadioTime tuner will attempt to retrieve program and station information for your selection.
  1. Add a radio preset so you can easily recall a station you want to listen to (much like Favorites).
